World Homeless Day 2023

  • Ellen Melville Centre 2 Freyberg Place Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Event by Sunday Blessings Tāmaki Makaurau

The concept of 'World Homeless Day' emerged from online discussions between people working to respond to homelessness from various parts of the world.

The purpose of World Homeless Day is to draw attention to the needs of people who experience homelessness locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness, while taking advantage of the stage an ‘international day’ provides. It is our hope to end homelessness through improved policy and funding, but we recognise that immediate needs require immediate responses, which many hard working groups provide.

In Tāmaki Makaurau we are gathering to acknowledge some of these hard working wrap around service groups and our street whanau.

At our gathering there will be many organisations providing services, who also work all year to serve the needs of our friends sleeping rough.

Some of the orgs and services on the day:
